Cedar Hill police have made an arrest in the shooting of an Amazon Flex delivery driver who said she was attacked while delivering a package Oct. 12, according to FOX 4 and Univision 23 DFW.
The driver, Yirmar Martinez, 23, told Univision she arrived around 5 a.m. at a property in the 1200 block of North Cedar Hill Road. She said the property was dark and she could not find the front door.
Driver describes early morning shooting
Martinez said she turned on her vehicle’s high beams and encountered an armed man. She said she displayed her Amazon vest to identify herself as a delivery driver.
She told FOX 4 the man opened fire as she tried to leave and continued shooting as she drove away. One bullet grazed her head, and another struck her lower back, according to her account.
Her husband was speaking with her by video call during the shooting, Univision reported. Martinez said she continued driving until she found a motorcyclist at a traffic signal who called for help.
Martinez told Univision she had worked as a driver for six months. She said working before dawn reduced the time her 5-year-old son needed to accompany her in the car.
Arrest confirmed, investigation continues
According to a Cedar Hill Police Department’s Facebook post, police had confirmed an arrest but had not publicly identified the suspect or announced charges.
Martinez works through Amazon Flex, which uses independent contractors driving their own vehicles.
