CEDAR HILL, Texas — Moviegoers in Cedar Hill could soon enjoy upgraded seating and an enhanced viewing experience as Cinemark prepares a multimillion-dollar renovation of its theater at Hillside Village.
According to project information, the company plans to invest approximately $3.75 million to renovate its theater at 280 Uptown Blvd.
The project will modernize the 42,032-square-foot facility by installing luxury recliner seating in its existing auditoriums and converting two auditoriums into Cinemark’s premium XD format, which features larger screens and enhanced audio and visual technology.
The renovation extends beyond the auditoriums.
Plans also include a complete remodel of the concession area, updated corridor finishes, restroom improvements and exterior enhancements, including new paint, refreshed signage and updated branding.
Construction is scheduled to begin Aug. 17 and is expected to be completed by Feb. 8, 2027, if the project remains on schedule.
The planned investment represents one of the largest upgrades to the Cedar Hill theater in recent years and reflects a broader trend within the movie theater industry of investing in premium amenities and enhanced viewing experiences as theaters compete with at-home entertainment options.
It is not yet clear whether the theater will remain open during construction or whether portions of the facility will temporarily close while renovations are underway.
Cinemark has not publicly announced additional details about how the project may affect daily operations.
Once completed, the renovation is expected to provide residents and visitors with a more modern moviegoing experience featuring upgraded seating, improved amenities and enhanced theater technology.
