ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings continued their hottest stretch of the season Sunday, overcoming a late injury scare involving rookie star Paige Bueckers in a 90-82 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks at College Park Center.
Bueckers scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting before leaving with 3:33 remaining after colliding with Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike.
As Ogwumike fell to the floor following a foul, she collided with Bueckers, who appeared to strike the back of her head on the court.
Both players remained down briefly before Bueckers walked to the locker room and did not return.
Wings coach Jose Fernandez did not provide an immediate update on Bueckers’ condition after the game.
Despite losing its leading scorer late, Dallas closed out the victory behind veteran guard Arike Ogunbowale, who scored six of her 20 points in the final minutes.
Jessica Shepard added another strong all-around performance with 11 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, while rookie Azzi Fudd scored 11 points as the Wings improved to 17-8.
Dallas built an early double-digit lead before Los Angeles rallied to pull within striking distance in the second half. The Wings answered with timely defensive stops and clutch baskets down the stretch to preserve the win.
Ogwumike led the Sparks with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Dearica Hamby added 16 points. Los Angeles fell to 10-15 with its fourth consecutive loss.
The victory extended Dallas’ winning streak to six games, tying the longest winning streak in franchise history since the team relocated to North Texas in 2016.
The Wings return to action Monday night when they host the New York Liberty in a game postponed earlier this week because of travel delays affecting New York’s charter flight.
