A DeSoto food truck has earned regional recognition after customers selected Shells & Tails as their favorite food truck in the 2026 Southern Taste of Dallas Awards.
The People’s Choice honor puts the local business among a group of restaurants, entrepreneurs and community figures recognized for their impact on Dallas-area food and culture.
Shells & Tails was the only winner in the food truck category. Its selection also gives DeSoto a place on a winners list featuring several well-known businesses from across the Dallas area.
Mary’s Twisted Kitchen received the award for favorite soul food restaurant, while Mr. Cajun’s Daiquiri was named favorite seafood restaurant.
Wings World earned the favorite wing spot award, and Smokey John’s Bar-B-Que was selected as the favorite barbecue restaurant.
Other restaurant winners included Sankofa Kitchen for vegan food, Burgerlicious for burgers, Fuel City for tacos and Breakfast Brothers for breakfast and brunch.
Grandma’s Country Kitchen was named the favorite new restaurant.
Black Jack’s Pizza received the pizza award, while Greedy’s was recognized as the favorite bar and lounge.
Gloria’s Latin Cuisine won in the Mexican restaurant category, and Williams Chicken was selected as the favorite chicken spot.
Soirée Coffee Bar earned the favorite coffee shop award, while Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley was named the favorite upscale restaurant.
Cake Daddy received the bakery award, and Fusion Vibes Kitchen + Lounge was recognized as the favorite fusion restaurant.
The awards also honored people working in media and the community. Most Wanted Nuke, known as “Mr. If You From Dallas,” was named favorite influencer.
Stephanie Camille received the favorite food journalist award, and Mary Dudley was selected as the favorite community leader.
The Southern Taste of Dallas Awards celebrates Black and Brown restaurants, culinary entrepreneurs, creatives and community leaders throughout the Dallas area.
For Shells & Tails, the award brings added attention to a DeSoto business while highlighting the city’s growing presence in the region’s food scene.
