MINNEAPOLIS — The Dallas Wings stayed within reach for three quarters Sunday, but a record-setting performance by Kayla McBride helped the Minnesota Lynx pull away for a 103-90 victory at Target Center.
The loss was Dallas’ third straight and dropped the Wings to 19-14.
Dallas led 23-21 after the first quarter, but Minnesota led 47-45 at halftime.
Paige Bueckers tied the game at 66 with 3:27 remaining in the third quarter, but the Lynx went on a 10-2 run to close the period and take a 76-68 lead into the fourth.
McBride finished with a career-high 43 points and set a WNBA single-game record with 10 3-pointers. She shot 16 of 21 from the field and 10 of 14 from beyond the arc.
Minnesota made a franchise-record 18 3-pointers and shot 46.2% from long range. Dallas shot 54.4% overall but committed 18 turnovers and made just 6 of 20 attempts from beyond the arc.
Bueckers led the Wings with 23 points and eight assists. Aziaha James scored a season-high 19 points off the bench, Odyssey Sims added 17, and Alanna Smith finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Dallas forward Jessica Shepard left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. Rookie guard Azzi Fudd missed her second consecutive game because of a knee injury.
Minnesota improved to 27-7 and became the first WNBA team to clinch a playoff berth this season.
The Wings will try to end their losing streak and get back into the winning column Wednesday when they host the Toronto Tempo.
