ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers missed an opportunity to complete a sweep Sunday at home, falling 10-5 to the Baltimore Orioles at Globe Life Field.
Despite the loss, Texas won two of three games in the series and remained in second place in the American League West.
The Rangers finished the weekend at 59-59, a half-game behind the division-leading Houston Astros.
Baltimore took control early, scoring five runs over the first two innings.
Pete Alonso led the Orioles with two home runs and four RBIs. Colton Cowser and Tyler O’Neill also homered as Baltimore finished with 15 hits.
Rangers starter Kumar Rocker allowed six runs over three-plus innings after allowing five total runs in his previous three starts.
Texas cut into Baltimore’s lead in the third inning when Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run homer.
The Rangers, however, were unable to overcome the early deficit and finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
Jordan Montgomery allowed three runs on six hits over four innings in his first major league appearance since September 2024.
Montgomery missed the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and signed with the Rangers as a free agent in February.
The loss ended Texas’ four-game winning streak. The Rangers won the series opener 2-1 on Friday before earning a 5-1 victory Saturday.
Texas also remained in possession of the American League’s final wild-card spot following Sunday’s games.
The Rangers are scheduled to begin a four-game road series against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday.
MacKenzie Gore is expected to start for Texas against Angels left-hander Reid Detmers.
