CEDAR HILL, Texas — Cedar Hill will open an interim park at the Phillips Property on Saturday, Aug. 22, creating a temporary gathering place in the heart of the city’s historic downtown.
The city will host an opening celebration from 9 to 11 a.m. featuring coffee, mimosas, food trucks and live music from Maya Piata and Band. The event will also include the debut of an asphalt mural and public art installation.
The Cedar Hill Farmers Market will also be moved to the Phillips Property for the celebration.
The temporary park will give residents a place to gather and enjoy the property while the city searches for a long-term development partner.
Potential future uses for the site include restaurants, retail, entertainment and open space.
The project is part of the Heart of the Hill Downtown Action Plan, which was developed after nearly a year of community input.
The plan is intended to guide the future of Cedar Hill’s historic downtown and create more opportunities for community activity and economic development.
