BEDFORD, Texas — Texas Harley-Davidson will bring motorcycle enthusiasts and pet lovers together Oct. 10 for “Bikers & Best Friends,” a community event featuring a pet costume contest, food trucks and a partnership with a local animal rescue organization.
The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at Texas Harley-Davidson, 1 Texas Harley Way in Bedford. Riders, nonriders and families are invited to attend with their pets.
The dealership is partnering with Duck Team 6 Street Dog Rescue for the event, which will feature a pet costume contest offering $400 in total prizes.
The contest will award $200 for Best in Show, $100 for Best Pet & Owner Duo and $100 for Best Biker Pet. Judging is scheduled to end at 2 p.m., with winners announced at 2:30 p.m.
“Harley riders love their pets, and we wanted to create a Saturday where those two worlds could come together,” said Claire Nelson, marketing manager at Texas Harley-Davidson. “Whether your best friend rides shotgun, waits for you at home or just looks really good dressed like a biker, we want people to bring them out and have some fun with us.”
In addition to the costume contest, organizers said the event will include a pet treat station, food trucks and complimentary adult beverages.
All friendly pets are welcome, but organizers require animals to remain leashed throughout the event.
Pets must also be vaccinated and comfortable around people and other animals. A designated outdoor pet restroom area will be available.
The event is open to riders and nonriders, and families are encouraged to attend.
