Cedar Hill will host the first-ever 2025 Sports Moms Conference in February, bringing parents together for a groundbreaking event.
The event focuses on empowering and educating families navigating the complexities of youth and collegiate sports, including recruiting, NIL deals, and mental health.
Ferrante Edmonds, mother of Colorado football star and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, will headline the inaugural 2025 Sports Moms Conference on Feb. 1 at Trinity Christian Church in Cedar Hill.
The event, presented by Can We Talk Sports and Can We Play Inc., aims to educate and empower parents navigating the ever-changing landscape of youth and collegiate athletics.
“I created this conference because parents need to be informed,” said organizer Karen Reese, whose son played college football.
Joining Edmonds is DeSoto resident Mistee Salter, whose sons play football for Power 5 programs, including Kaidon Salter, a graduate transfer recently committed to Colorado under head coach Deion Sanders.
Conference attendees can expect panel discussions and workshops on critical topics such as NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals, recruiting strategies, branding, mental health, and managing college transfers.
The event seeks to provide parents with practical tools to support their young athletes both on and off the field.
Unlike typical motivational events, Reese emphasizes that this conference offers a “survival guide” for parents managing their children’s sports journeys.
Breakout sessions will dive into key challenges and opportunities parents face today:
- NIL and Branding: How can your athlete secure endorsements without risking eligibility? Experts will share tips on striking the right balance.
- Recruiting Playbook: Wondering how to help your athlete stand out to coaches? Get actionable advice on making your family’s recruiting journey smoother.
- Navigating College Transfers: Is the transfer portal a good fit for your child? Learn what to expect and how to make informed decisions.
- Youth Sports Best Practices: How do you keep your child motivated without burning out? Hear strategies from those who’ve been there.
“As parents, things are going on in every area of sports, and we need to know. Ferrante Edwards and Mistee Salter have experienced everything as a sports mom. The knowledge and information they can provide will be invaluable,” said Reese.
Tickets start at $149 for individuals and $229 for families. Student-athletes attend free with a parent or guardian’s ticket purchase.
