PLANO — A celebration of fashion, culture and community will return to Legacy West later this month as organizers prepare for the fifth annual Juneteenth Fashion Show.
Scheduled for June 19 at the Lexus Box Garden at Legacy Hall, this year’s event carries the theme “Ubuntu: Together, We Are, Together, We Rise,” drawing inspiration from the African philosophy that emphasizes shared humanity, interconnectedness and collective progress.
The annual event highlights the contributions of Black designers, artists and creatives while recognizing the influence of the African diaspora on fashion, culture and entertainment.
Produced by Think Three Media and presented by Legacy West, the fashion show has become a recurring Juneteenth celebration in North Texas.
“Ubuntu,” often translated as “I am because we are,” serves as the guiding concept for this year’s showcase. Organizers say the theme reflects the importance of community and the collective contributions that shape cultural identity.
“Ubuntu honors our ancestors, heritage and roots, while celebrating the contributions that make Black culture unique and special,” said Leah Frazier. “I’m looking forward to seeing all of the prints, patterns and style that will emerge from this year’s theme.”
The event will feature runway presentations from 14 designers and retailers representing a range of styles, including couture, bridal wear, menswear and contemporary fashion.
Participating brands include Black Menswear, House of Dasha, Kishme, House of Keyes, Saint Lamo and Indigo 1745 Collective.

In addition to the fashion presentations, attendees can expect live entertainment throughout the evening.
Veteran media personality Lady Jade and comedian Michael Shawn are scheduled to emcee the event, while NeAndre Broussard of Black Menswear will serve as a special co-host.
Musical performances are also planned, including appearances by Cupid, known for the hit song “Cupid Shuffle,” along with performers Jelly Bean, Ashley Kaee and Kkeeyz.
Before the runway show begins, guests will have an opportunity to shop with Black-owned businesses during a pre-event marketplace. Dr. DJ Mack will provide music during the pre-show festivities.
A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit The African Think Tank, a nonprofit organization focused on fostering community, business and cultural connections among Africans and supporters of Africa.
Legacy West officials say the event reflects the development’s commitment to celebrating the diverse cultures represented throughout the community.
“We are honored to commemorate Juneteenth with an experience that spotlights the cultural impact of the Black community on art, fashion and entertainment,” said Liz Gallagher. “We invite everyone to join us for this celebration of culture and community.”
The fashion show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. following pre-show activities, with an official after-party planned immediately afterward.
The event is part of a growing number of Juneteenth celebrations taking place across North Texas. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. June 19 at Legacy Hall in Plano. Tickets are available through Legacy Hall.
